If you’re having a hard time choosing a gift for family members this holiday season – go for the gift basket! You can include several little items you know they’ll love plus it shows you took the time to think about them. This gift basket is PERFECT for road trip lovers. I’m even giving you a free printable road trip art print to include. All you need to do is pick up some favorite road trip beverages, a little holiday flair, and whatever other small items you want to include then read my tips below on putting it all together!
What To Put In a Road Trip Holiday Gift Basket
The first thing you need to do when putting together a road trip gift basket is gather up all your gifts. The great part about a gift basket is that you can completely tailor it to your budget. You’ll definitely want something bigger that takes up a lot of space. Since it’s a road trip themed gift basket a favorite beverage is a perfect choice!
I picked up some sparkling water (my favorite) and Sprite Cranberry (the boys’ favorite holiday pick). Once you have your drinks of choice, here are some other ideas of things to put in a road trip gift basket:
- favorite snacks (I made some energy bars)
- activity books
- traveler’s notebook
- pens/markers
- books or gift card to purchase digital or audio books
- a list of podcasts to try
- travel themed ornament
- travel themed shirt or hat
- playing cards or a new travel-friendly game – here are some favorite games of ours
- extra charging cables or plugs
- travel themed print – I recommend printing on heavier cardstock. To gift, add it to a clear plastic bag with a cardboard backing if you have one. I save these from prints I purchase so that I have them handy for gifting.
How To Put Together a Road Trip Themed Gift Basket
When you’re ready to put the whole basket together, you’ll want to decide if you can put everything in a closed box and wrap it, or set it up in a basket for a fun display. Choose a nice big basket and get started.
Add height to the basket with boxes. If you buy some extra drinks that works great too!
I like to add a paper filler (it’s recyclable and easy to come by with holiday shipping/shopping season).
Then layer in your gifts!
I like to add a bit of holiday flair with greenery, ornaments, little trees, etc.
A personalized tag is a fun way to finish off the gift basket. I made some to make the free print that you can use if you like! Just print here, cut out, punch a hole, and attach with string or ribbon.
I like to leave these open but you can wrap the whole thing up too if you wanted! Gift & enjoy!
