Besides travel and vacation, summer to me is MUSIC, friends, food, great drinks, and just spending time with people I love. Summer is definitely my favorite time of year and I am happiest when I get to combine any or all of these things! This Jalapeño Cilantro Mojito has the fresh flavors of a desert summer & can be customized to fit all your friend’s tastes. Scroll down to check out the Bacardi Summer Music Sweeps (in partnership with Live Nation) they have some AMAZING prizes.
JALAPEÑO CILANTRO MOJITO
Did you know that BACARDI rum is the world’s favorite and most awarded rum? It is! I love that it’s taste profile is Light with Vanilla and Apricot, Balanced and Extremely Mixable perfect for High Energy Occasions with its Cuban/Latin roots and culture. I usually have BACARDI Superior on hand to craft cocktails for my guests. It’s made to mix! #DoWhatMovesYou 😉
Even if you or your guests don’t like spicy – give this one a try. It is completely customizable from not spicy AT ALL to as spicy as you want. It’s full of earthy, desert flavors that everyone will love. I am good at customizing drinks to different tastes so don’t be afraid of this one.
- Lime
- Fresh cilantro
- 2 jalapeños
- 1 - 1.5 oz jalapeño simple syrup (recipe below)
- 1.5 oz BACARDI Superior
- Club soda
- Ice
- Muddle 1 wedge of lime and 5-10 cilantro leaves in a glass (some stem is ok)
- Add 2 more lime wedges and muddle to release the juice
- Add jalapeño simple syrup (1 oz or less for those that like their drink less sweet or for a smaller glass and 1.5oz for those that like a little more sweetness)
- Fill glass with ice
- Pour 1.5oz BACARDI Superior over ice
- Fill the rest of the glass with club soda
- Stir to mix
- Top with a slice of jalapeño, cilantro, and lime
To make the jalapeño simple syrup you just mix 1 cup of water, 1 cup of simple syrup, and 1 jalapeño seeded and chopped into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and let simmer for 15 minutes. To make it more spicy leave a few (or a lot) of seeds in. The spice really comes from the seed so feel free to add more or less.
If your guest wants a spicy mojito, add a slice of jalapeño with the seeds to the lime and cilantro when you muddle.
This drink is fresh, earthy, delicious, and pairs perfectly with friends & music!
