It’s been a while since I shared a house update because there’s not a WHOLE lot to share. We moved in back in the Fall re-did the floors & baseboards, painting all the walls & most of the vaulted ceilings, put in new countertops, replaced all the outlets (not just the covers the actual outlets) and were DONE with house projects for a while. I didn’t want to lift a finger to work on it so the walls sat bare and I didn’t care one bit. We did get a couple of rooms mostly presentable though starting with the dining room! This dining room makeover was more of a freshening up than a makeover since there wasn’t much done to it in the first place.
The walls were a flat builders cream color and looked like they hadn’t been painted ever. The carpet was in good shape but was older and not what we wanted. Here’s what it looked like before.
And after floors, baseboards, paint, & a new lamp from our sponsor at Lamps Plus.
I need to find some new chairs for this space. I’m thinking something a little softer and upholstered but for now I’m using what we have. I love the lines of this Wood Flynn Hairpin Table from Cost Plus World Market.
And how gorgeous is this Holman 26 3/4″ Wide Industrial Bronze 6-Light Chandelier?! I absolutely love how it works in this space. I hung it a bit higher than “standard” because I have large teens who tend to hit their heads on chandeliers often AND I use this space for photo work so it fits our lifestyle better when it’s hung just a tad higher.
Here’s what the space looks like in relation to the other living area. This is the room you walk into from the front door and the kitchen/great room is through the arch.
Loving this space so far and can’t wait to see it develop more. One of the projects I planned on doing in the beginning was the fireplace so we started to tear off the tiles but put that project on hold. I added some vinyl stickers to hold me over until we get to this project. First the kitchen cabinets need to be refinished, the backsplash put up and the doors in the hall painted!
