I had one thing on my list that I HAD to do on our last trip to Walt Disney World – try gluten free churros! YES there are gluten free churros at Walt Disney World and they aren’t just for gluten free people either. We attended the Disney Social Media Moms Conference this year sponsored by Disney. They had lots of great events and special activities planned for us, but I had a plan of my own. CHURROS!
I even made a t-shirt for the occasion (but ended up going early to try churros so I wasn’t even wearing the shirt on the day I first tried them).
The ONLY place you can get these (as of right now) is at Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom.
Here’s a little video with all the info:
The churros are served with a vanilla crema and strawberry chili sauce and both were really good!
Nomad Lounge is my husband and my new favorite spot in all of Walt Disney World, we relaxed in the lounge twice this last trip and honestly, I would have gone again if our schedule wasn’t already packed. They were that good. But the lounge in general just has great, relaxed vibe and such a good location outside of Pandora. It’s been pretty busy but I have a feeling that the opening of Toy Story Land and eventually Star Wars Land will ease up the traffic a little.
The food was great (portions are small so keep that in mind if you are hungry) and the cocktails were all excellent as well. I’m not usually one to order cocktails but wanted to try everything as was never disappointed. The poutine shown here is not gluten free.
Remember that if you DO have allergies to let your server know so they can address your needs appropriately. The churros are made here already gluten free but if you are allergic you’ll want to tell them so they can be handled properly.
There was actually another woman here that I watched enjoying the churros and I said something to her about how good they were when we were walking out. Turns out, she’s gluten free too and comes into the park JUST to hang out and eat the churros.
Whoever the chef is at Nomad Lounge/Animal Kingdom who created these, thank you! You made my trip. I can’t wait to come back again. If you’re heading to Walt Disney World soon just for these churros (I don’t blame you) – I love this big packing list with over 75 must pack items.
YESSS! I heard about these churros on the Find Me Gluten Free app…and OMG they are sooo good!! I cannot wait to go back and eat them again!
I can’t wait either! They are SO good!
I was just in Tiffins and was told that they use a shared drier. So I still have yet to eat churros.
Did you ask to speak to a chef? I’ve heard that they can be very accommodating and that the frier is only shared sometimes so if you are able to talk directly to the chef they can tell you if it’s safe or not.
