I just got my hands on the new Cricut Joy and I LOVE it! The size combined with the ability to cut without a mat using the new materials makes it so easy to pull out and craft quickly. The Cricut Joy is a great size for practical everyday projects and is the perfect companion to your larger Cricut machines for all your smaller, simple, or last-minute projects. As soon as I opened mine I put it to work and had 3 little projects done in no time.

Cricut Joy

If you haven’t seen it yet the Cricut Joy is Cricut’s smallest smart cutting machine. Its size makes it easy to store and super portable. The cute tote you can buy makes it even easier! The really cool thing about the Cricut Joy is that it can cut the new Smart Vinyl without a cutting mat. Not only that, but the Smart vinyl also comes in extended sizes with up to 20′ repeated cut capability.

Another cool thing about the Cricut Joy is the blank insert card sets. There is a special mat to use with the cards and it makes creating gorgeous cards super simple. Cricut Joy can also write making the small projects you can use it for that much easier.

Think of all the cute labels you can make!

So whether you’re cutting some vinyl for a mug, iron-on for some last-minute school spirit, home decor, or a gorgeous homemade card, the Cricut Joy is a great option to add to your craft arsenal! Instead of pulling out your larger machines for the quick, simple projects, just grab the Cricut Joy and get to cutting (or drawing) even faster. You can personalize anything with one cut and one color in 15 minutes or less. Learn more about the Cricut Joy at Cricut.com.

3 Things to Make with Your New Cricut Joy Right Now

Easy Homemade Cards

The first thing I wanted to try with my Cricut Joy was making a card. I think cards are my most made last-minute craft. With the blank insert card sets and card mat, you can have a super cute card made and personalized in minutes. While you can create your own design, there are plenty of great options in the Cricut Design Space app.

I used my phone to pull up the design and cut out this cute Happy Birthday Card. Tip: you can search Cricut Joy card projects on the mobile app by clicking on “Categories” and then sorting by “Cricut Joy Insert Cards”.

Insert the card front into the card mat as instructed and follow on-screen prompts. Everything is done on your phone or computer and gets going so quickly! You can adjust the cutting pressure if needed (I use the “more pressure” option for my cards). If your card design has any drawing on it, the app will prompt you to switch out the tools in the Cricut Joy.

Once done, just weed the cut portions out of the card (the Cricut tools are super helpful for this), and choose an insert to complete the design. I actually added 2 to this card for fun.

Labels

I am so ready to label ALL THE THINGS. I absolutely love the Smart Vinyl for making labels with the Cricut Joy. You can make labels by cutting out words (super cute for a pantry) but I wanted to use the Smart Label Writable Vinyl to make some labels for the big bins in our garage.

There is already a couple of great free projects in the Cricut Design Space app (on your computer or mobile app) so I just used one of those and edited the text. For this project, I edited the labels on my laptop and since Design Space can save your projects to the cloud I was able to pull it up later on my phone so that I didn’t even need to get my laptop out when I was ready to create my labels!

I love how the Smart Labels are gridded on the back. When making your project with the Design Space app it will tell you what size you’ll need so you can quickly trim a piece or find a scrap piece that’s the right size so none goes to waste. The Cricut Joy will also ensure you have enough material before it starts writing and cutting.

These labels were drawn with the Cricut Joy pen and then cut out. You can make so many types of labels quickly and easily. Since I saved my file I’ll be able to access it and create more of the same labels as needed.

Decals

Everyone loves to make decals right? For your cup, electronic cases, school projects, or whatever you want to personalize, decals are such a simple way to add a bit of personality.

The possibilities for decals are endless. I cut out these cute little trees to add to the bottom of my travel mug and applied them with the Cricut Joy Transfer Tape. Making decals couldn’t be easier with the Smart Vinyl and Cricut Joy.

Definitely browse around the Cricut site for more videos and info on the Cricut Joy and new products to go with it! You can buy a Cricut Joy directly from Cricut, at Michaels, Joann, and I’ve seen it on HSN too!
