What does travel mean to you? I don’t know about you but with social media, it always feels like someone is on some big trip or relaxing at an incredible resort. We all love to do that right?! I get so many comments about how people wish they could travel more or reasons why they don’t travel (money, kids, work…) that it got me thinking about what travel is and what it means to me. I started #DefineYourOwnTravel as a space to encourage and inspire each other to define what travel means to us in the place that we’re in right now. It might be a drive down the road to a new park, an ethnic restaurant, or a full-blown luxury trip that you saved for years for.
#DefineYourOwnTravel
I’d love to start sharing travel adventures with each other on social media. Adventures that can even be a mile from your house. I want us to start thinking of travel differently. Where can we explore, learn, or communicate with new people? What did you learn or discover?
I learn so much about who I am, what I love, what inspires me, and more about my family and friends when I travel. THAT’S why I’m so passionate about it. However, we can’t always be off on a world tour, so how can we incorporate these lessons and inspiration into our lives on a more regular basis? THIS is where the hashtag comes in. Let’s inspire each other with local travel ideas. Maybe finding a new State Park or hiking trail. Trying out a new local spa treatment or even a park.
Travel Ideas to Get You Started
Still not quite sure how to define what travel is to you? Here are some ideas to get you brainstorming on how you want to define travel for yourself (and it can change over time as your circumstances change):
- A cruise (a short cruise or a long International cruise that you can start saving for now)
- A luxury resort staycation nearby
- A girls trip, couples getaway, or one-on-one trip with one of your kids to a city/location of their choice
- A Disney vacation! Beyond the parks, there are cruises, Hawaiian vacations, and even adventure travel.
- Universal Studios
- Find a unique tour or museum in your city
- Local cultural festival
- State or National Parks
- A hiking trail near you
- A little town nearby that you’ve never visited
