This Christmas Eve family gift basket is the perfect mix of DIY and store bought AND got an instant approval when the boys saw it all pulled together so it’s already teen approved making it a great family gift idea. I’ve got all the info and even the cut files you can use for free that I made as part of a partnership with our sponsor – Cricut!

My Cricut Maker is getting a workout this holiday season and I can’t say that I’m made about it. If you’ve even considered adding it to your Christmas list DO IT! It’s by far the best machine I’ve used and I even LIKE using it. I haven’t done a ton of cutting projects because using my old machine felt a little cumbersome. The smaller Cricut machines work great as well if you’re looking for something a little more basic.
I wanted to make some family gifts this year that would be fun to give and get. My favorite type of gifts to give are ones that have a little bit of personalization without taking too much time to create. This family gift basket has everything you could want for a fun Christmas Eve together as a family – a movie, popcorn, a cookie making kit/jar, warm drinks, mugs and even some personalized kitchen towels, all in a family crate that can be used to store decor and more at Christmastime!
All the “extras” you can add in depending on the family and what they like (don’t forget the furry family members). You could even buy a gluten free cookie or cake mix to include for those friends and family that are gluten free because we NEVER get cute little gift sets just for us.
I themed this basket to the movie ELF (obviously) that includes my favorite movie quote of all time that you would only know if you’re big ELF fans “So, good news… I saw a dog today” and a quote that should be repeated daily in December “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear”.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Cricut cutting machine (I used the Maker)
- Iron or even better, especially if you do a lot of iron on – the Cricut EasyPress
- Black iron-on Lite
- Foil iron-on in Emerald Green
- Cricut vinyl in Midnight and Olive
- Cricut Essential Tool Set
- Flour Sack Dish Towels
- Wooden Crate (or any sturdy basket/bin)
- ELF quote cut file
- Family Name cut file
Grab your Cricut and get cutting! I LOVE that the Cricut Maker automatically adjusts all the setting depending on material type. It makes my life so much easier.
And I am completely addicted to my EasyPress for iron-ons, it does such an amazing job. *Tip – the BEST way to use the EasyPress is to have a thick folded towel under whatever you’re transferring don’t use an ironing board. I just use mine on my kitchen island. You can use it to press out your towels first too, although I love flour sack towels because they are so casual. The mix of Cricut iron-on + the EasyPress has made awesome results every time for me! The EasyPress comes with suggested temperat
Add the vinyl to your crate and load it up with Christmas favorites!
Now to make a few more… What would you love to get in a family gift basket? Also, tell me I’m not the only one who LOVES the dog quote!
