I had the pleasure of attending my first ever TMS Family Travel conference this last weekend!
What is TMS? From their site: “TMS Family Travel produces conferences that bring you the latest in family travel trends, techniques, and technology. Our conferences are hosted by family friendly destinations and feature family travel experts, products, and brands.”
It was a fantastic weekend connecting with other travel media and family friendly destinations or products in one of the best formats I’ve been to. The other benefit is that you get to explore a new location! This year it was held in Kansas City, MO at the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center.
Part of the conference was being able to explore unique parts of the city and what a beautiful city it is! I couldn’t get over how quiet and calm it was.
I got to see the Hallmark Visitors Center and Kaleidoscope (an amazing free creative center for kids and families sponsored by Hallmark), SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium, LEGOLAND Discovery Center, The Coterie Theatre, PBS chef Lidia Bastianich’s famous KC restaurant “Lidias“, The College Basketball Experience next to the Sprint Center, The Museums at 18th & Vine Complex, home to the American Jazz Museum and the Negro Baseball Leagues Museum AND I explored the National WWI Museum and Liberty Memorial as well as Union Station. A packed weekend for sure! It was so great how everything was so close and accessible. They actually have an enclosed bridge from the Crown Center shopping area through the Westin over to Union Station.
I just thought I’d share some of the weekend through my eyes here. I didn’t bring my “big” camera with me so these are all iPhone shots.
I definitely hope to attend another TMS conference in the future because travel is so important to me and I think is becoming even more so now that the boys are getting older!
