The best part about being a blogger/freelancer is that every day is different. Yes, I spend A LOT of time in front of the computer, but I did that before too. There’s something about being able to work on a new project all the time and switching things up when I need a creative boost. I thought I’d bring you along on a typical/not typical day in the life of this lifestyle blogger to show you a bit about what my days look like. This is a typical work at home day. These look somewhat the same, but a little different on travel days.
To start, I have been homeschooling my boys for the last 3 years so my day definitely starts differently than families who drive their kids to school. I wake up around 6:30/7am and check over emails. These are the first faces (or ears) I see most mornings.
Since everyone else is still slowly waking up I’ll make myself a cup of coffee or tea and sit down on the couch with my laptop to get to work answering emails, checking campaigns I’m helping to lead for brands with other bloggers, check social media, site stats etc.
Sometimes we make breakfast first thing, sometimes we just grab whatever we can find (this was one of those mornings). I had a conference call and several more emails and posts to follow up on so I settled into my “corner office” to work for a few hours.
Planning / emailing / goal setting / learning (online classes, articles etc.)
Another thing I worked on this morning was this big stack of papers. It’s huge and all for high school enrollment. So crazy.
Throughout the morning I check on the boys, see if they have questions about what they’re working on for school and make sure they’re actually getting it done. They have their routine down and since they’re older they don’t require a ton of me on a normal basis.
I took a shower and then decided I’d photograph a few things before we needed to leave to run some errands. I opened some mail that had come and then got to work. This is a very normal setup for me.
After this we left to run some errands when my son reminded me that we hadn’t eaten lunch officially. I had a conference call so we went straight to Starbucks.
He knew instantly what I would want – this Creminelli Fine Meats™ Felino & Manchego Sliced Charcuterie Tray. It’s my favorite perfect afternoon snack (or lunch) that’s gluten free and high in protein. Did you know that in Europe, having a mid-afternoon snack of Italian meat & cheeses is the norm? It’s the norm in my house too so having the Creminelli trays at Starbucks means it’s a usual spot for us!
I paired mine with an iced grande 1 pump cinnamon almond milk macchiato (usually it’s just iced tea but I was wanting something a little sweeter today).
With hints of nutmeg and pepper the Creminelli Felino has a mild, accessible flavor and sheep’s milk cheese from Spain creates a perfect pairing right from the package. Seriously, SO good and my perfect snack whether we’re eating it at Starbucks as part of their power lunch program (not available at every store but an awesome option) or taking it on the go.
After our pit stop at Starbucks we ran to the store for some things needed for home and for a blog post I’m working on.
Then it was off to Surprise, AZ (yes that’s a city) for an orthodontist appointment.
That was a good hour and a half so we went straight for home to hopefully avoid some afternoon traffic! Jared got home shortly after and then we were back in the car (this time I had a driver) to head downtown.
Our initial plan was to run out, take photos and head home for dinner but we got hungry so ate out instead.
Grabbed some takeout for the boys on the way home, then sat down and loaded the photos from the day and started writing this post. Poor dogs didn’t even get a walk today. There’s always tomorrow!
I’d say this is a pretty typical day. Some days are slower with a local event thrown in and some days are even crazier depending on what the boys have going on. I love working outside the house like at Starbucks and sometimes the boys will bring their school work with them if they aren’t quite done.
Because the Creminelli trays are prepared with each slice hand packed into recyclable trays AND I can order it ahead of time on the Starbucks app, I often order and pick them up while I’m out with or without the boys. Check them out on Facebook or Instagram and pick them up next time you’re at Starbucks!
Do you have a go to snack on your crazy days?
