Our recent family trip to the stunning (and our favorite) island of Kauai was made extra special by staying at Hanalei Bay Resort in Princeville who hosted us for this stay. Returning to this serene resort, we brought the whole family along this time for an unforgettable experience in Hawaiian paradise.
The Perfect Family Sanctuary on Kauai
Hanalei Bay Resort is more than just a vacation spot; it’s a picturesque condo and timeshare resort on Kauai’s north shore (the quieter/slower part of the island). This time, we stayed in a spacious two-bedroom, two-bath condo, perfect for the whole family booked through Resortime. The full kitchen was a highlight, turning meal prep into the part of every day I looked forward to. We enjoyed cooking breakfast every morning and several dinners, savoring our creations in our cozy island home, or out on the patio.

Starting Days in Paradise
Our mornings began on the patio, with a warm breeze, lush tropical views, and the sound of birds greeting the day. This perfect morning routine perfectly mirrored the resort’s relaxed vibe, offering both peace and vibrant activities.
Beach and Resort Activities Galore
Every day, a short walk or a fun golf cart ride took us to the resort’s beach (that is shared with a brand-new luxury resort). With opportunities for snorkeling and kayaking, the beach was ideal for both relaxation and adventure. Back at the resort, you can enjoy endless activities, including tennis (with THE most stunning views) and a GORGEOUS pool area. Daily activities including things like fish feeding, crafts, and games can help keep you entertained if you want a slower day.
Evenings at the Happy Talk Lounge featured live music, great food, and drinks, while the on-site pizza restaurant was a hit with our boys after a day full of activities.
Dinner with a View
Our favorite spot was the large grill area, where we prepared several dinners with fresh local ingredients as the sunset painted the sky. Each evening ended with a gentle walk to the hillside for breathtaking sunset views. I saw a couple of groups plan a charcuterie board and drinks to bring out to watch the sunset – so I highly recommend that if you have some time. Love that idea!
