One of the questions I get a lot about travel is how I handle eating out so much. Not only the costs add up, but the time and effort to get meals while traveling can really add up! I have a “go to” list of meals I can create when traveling alone or with the family. Meals that are super easy, made with real ingredients, fit into my gluten-free lifestyle (due to an autoimmune disorder), and that the whole family will enjoy. The types of meals I make depends on the living situation when traveling but I almost always make sure to book a room with at least a microwave if I’m staying longer than a night or two.
Easy Meals When Traveling
Here are some “go-to” EASY meals I stick to when traveling depending on the type of kitchen/ kitchen appliances available. Renting a room with a full kitchen is always preferred so that I can do a mix of meals that don’t need to be cooked, meals prepped in the microwave, and meals from the stove/oven.
- Sandwiches
- Pasta
- Rotisserie Chicken & Salad

- Egg Scramble
- BBQ Meat & Veggies

- EatingWell® Frozen Entrees
EatingWell Frozen Entrees are brand new at Target in the frozen section and I was totally intrigued by their Fresh-Seal® packaging. I also LOVE it when it’s easy to tell if something is gluten-free or not (makes my life and trip to Target much easier). Especially when staying a few nights somewhere I always take a few minutes to run into Target for some snacks or food so being able to pick up entire meals is a huge bonus.
They had a variety of meals to choose, from classic comfort food to world flavors, lots of vegetables, whole grains, and all- natural chicken, beef and pork all with real ingredients that are sustainably and responsibly sourced.
Best of all, it’s an entire meal that’s SO EASY to make, eat, and clean up when traveling.
Here’s what the Korean Style Beef looks like out of the packaging and then after cooking.
And here’s the Cherry Port Pork.
They smell great, the meals we’ve tried have all tasted great, and they are the perfect solution for an easy meal at or away from home when you just need something EASY! You can read more about the EatingWell meals and all the options on their site here.
