We did it! We had an amazing trip to Washington DC last weekend and we can’t stop talking about it. I’ve shared in 2 different posts on All for the Boys but wanted to also share some highlights here!

Washington DC

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, VA and I am SO glad we did. It gave us an opportunity to explore this amazing town while giving us easy access to Washington DC.

We love the nightly happy hour and the location is perfect. There is SO many food and shopping choices along King Street (with plenty of gluten free options). There is a free trolley that runs to the MetroRail station (or it’s a fairly short walk) and the MetroRail takes you straight into the city. You really could spend the whole time in Alexandria though. There are several great museum options within walking distance as well. Like the Gadsby’s Tavern Museum or the Stabler-Leadbetter Apothecary Museum.

In town we loved exploring the different Smithsonians (they are free), the National Archives, the Newseum (might be my favorite) and the Spy Museum.

I think my favorite Memorial was the Lincoln Memorial.

And the best thing I ate was this gluten free Chocolate Cherry cupcake from Baked + Wired in Georgetown.

We had SUCH a great trip and I can’t wait to share how I’m recording these memories later this week! If you love photos and stories check out my full posts on our trip HERE and HERE.
