If you’re looking for a perfect holiday cocktail drink to make at home this year – this is it! It’s smokey, just the right sweetness, and just feels like the holidays. It’s sort of my take on chestnuts roasting on an open fire without roasting any actual chestnuts because it’s made with Torani Marron (or chestnut) Syrup!

Jared & I have been enjoying evenings at home making dinner, watching movies, sitting outside enjoying the gorgeous weather, & making a date out of it by trying out cocktail recipes! The holidays are a fun time to try all sorts of new recipes, cocktail recipes not excluded. We are both bourbon fans, but even if you’re not you can slightly adjust this recipe to your taste. The Torani syrup makes it easy to sweeten cocktails because they are made with simple ingredients like pure cane sugar and natural flavors. They help bring new flavors to your home bar in such an easy way. Plus, they have so many great holiday flavors you’ll definitely want to stock up!

How to Make a Smoked Chestnut Old Fashioned

The 2 “secret” ingredients to this cocktail are the Torani Marron (chestnut) Syrup, and a smoke infuser. I got just a cheap one and it works great for making fun cocktails like this. Everything else you can use what you already have in your bar that you’d expect for an Old Fashioned.

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • ½ oz Torani Marron Syrup

  • 2-3 dashes bitters

  • Orange Peel

  • Holiday garnish (cranberries and rosemary shown here)

Directions

  • Add bourbon, Torani syrup, and bitters to a tall or mixing glass and stir together.
  • Using a small smoke infuser, add smoke to the glass and cover for a minute or two depending on how strong you want the smoke flavor
  • Add ice to an old fashioned or rocks glass
  • Pour cocktail over ice
  • Rub the orange peel around the rim of the glass and place into the glass
  • Garnish with cranberries and rosemary

Notes

  • For a sweeter cocktail just increase the Torani syrup to 1 oz!

Torani syrups make it super easy to mix up your cocktail flavors and come up with new ones for the holidays without adding a lot of steps to the recipe. Try using them in place of any sugar or simple syrup. You can purchase them online at torani.com Stock up now and have fun crafting up holiday cocktails to compliment all of your fun traditions or to make some new ones. Happy Holidays!
