It doesn’t take following my social media for long to know that I LOVE the beach. Living just 5/5.5 hours away from some gorgeous Southern California beaches means that we visit often. Over the last couple of years we have come to love booking through ResorTime because we get to stay in condo type properties with some of the best amenities of a resort!
This trip we stayed at our favorite spot for a relaxing beach vacation and got to check out a new one that we definitely want to stay at in the future.
The Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort & Hotel is one of our favorites because of it’s access to the beach. This trip I got my fill of beach air and it was perfect. One night just Colton and I walked down to watch the sunset and I can’t even describe how it felt to sit there in the quiet as he played in the sand. It was exactly what you think of when you think “relaxing beach vacation”.
When you book through ResorTime you get to book a condo type room with a full kitchen which we always utilize! They also have some great amenities like free bike, boogie board, chair, umbrella and beach toy “rentals”. You can just check them out and return in the evening!
It’s super close to all kinds of food and shopping and has a great pool and spa overlooking the ocean. It’s just a gorgeous relaxing property that we always love visiting and recommend often!
Sometimes when you find a spot you love, you miss out on new areas, so I was excited to check out the Coronado Beach Resort on Coronado Island while we were in town. As many times as I’ve been to Southern California I’ve NEVER been to Coronado Beach. After this visit, I will definitely be back again. It’s gorgeous.
The Coronado Beach Resort can be booked through ResorTime as well and has many of the same amenities as the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. It’s located right across the street from the iconic Hotel Del Coronado and Coronado Beach which as the softest sand I’ve felt in Southern California I think!
The Coronado Beach Resort has a gorgeous rooftop deck, a resident Macaw and even a little library! They “rent” beach supplies as well which I love.
Coronado Island has plenty to do and see besides the beach. I had heard good things about the USS Midway Museum so we decided to check it out while we were in the area.
It honestly was one of the best museums we’ve visited. The boys LOVED checking out the ship and all the aircraft, plus we got to chat with a WWII vet who told us just a bit about his incredible life in the Navy.
I wish we would have stayed in the area longer because there was so much to do. I know what we’ll be adding to our travel list when deciding where to go the next time we drive over!

*Gluten Free recommendations – for Carlsbad I tried Paradise Pizza on this trip (a small local shop that I recommend having delivered or picked up and eaten on the beach) and they had a GREAT gluten free crust. It wasn’t “corn-ey” like many gf crusts are. For the San Diego/Coronado area we LOVE Barrio Star. They recently re-did their ordering process (it used to be sit down and now it’s order at the counter) which makes it easier to eat and run, but we will always stop here when in the area. They have great tacos and delicious homemade corn tortillas.
