We have never been the best at regularly scheduled date nights but we do love to plan one now and then. A few years ago I got sick on our date night and we ended up getting takeout and watching movies at home. It’s still one of my favorite nights.
We love checking out new restaurants but they are often a good drive from where we live so sometimes we plan date nights close to home to save time in addition to just enjoying being at home. Even in the summer, getting outside can be such a refreshing change from the day to day work grind. For a fun date night idea, what about walking or biking to a local take out spot?!
We are lucky enough to living within bike riding distance of several spots but a short drive works too 😉
Once you get home, to keep from being distracted by laundry, dishes or work – set up a picnic outside to eat. This way, you don’t have to cook, clean up is easy and you can enjoy each other’s company.
Wine is always a part of date night dinners whether fancy or a simple salad from a local take out spot. One of my new favorites is The Seeker wines. The Seeker is a line of wines from all over the world. These were THE perfect choices for date night. Both delicious and definitely being added to my regular rotation. Also, I’m a sucker for a good label and as a travel lover I’m in love with theirs 😉
Date night isn’t complete without dessert. Ice cream (or gelato in this case) is the perfect choice for a hot summer night.
The best part about date night picnics at home is that we can hop in the pool after dinner and watch a movie or listen to music (without kids running and splashing around).
