Oh how I love photos. I love the memories, smells, sounds, and emotions they evoke. My friend Rebecca from Simple as That posted about her upcoming challenge on Instagram and I was instantly transported to 2004 ish when I got my first DSLR (I used film before that) and was introduced to many photo groups and challenges on Flickr. Then I realized I don’t remember the last time I did a photo challenge. It’s all about the photo for Instagram or the blog post these days.
So I’m going to take her challenge. And while I am traveling quite a bit in June, I’m going to challenge myself to get back to my lifestyle roots and try to really step back and capture real life moments.
I love this quote from Rebecca’s post: “I quickly discovered that seeing my normal, sometimes mundane life through that camera instantly heightened my awareness of the brief but brilliant moments that matter most. As I continued to seek out photo opportunities, I began to see my life in clearer focus, and I gained a deeper sense of appreciation for the simple joys scattered throughout the average day.”
So starting June 1 I’ll be challenging myself to capture moments and I have a feeling it’s going to be A LOT different than it used to having teenagers now. That’s ok though, that’s the stage we’re in and it deserves to be captured too.

I don’t plan on being hard on myself if I don’t get a photo in every day, but I will definitely be challenging myself to get many moments captured!
