Anyone can get into a creative slump at any job no matter where they work. Since I’ve worked from home the last almost 10 years in some way I’ve learned to pull myself out of that slump in some different ways. When I first started working from home I felt like I was “cheating” in some way if I wasn’t in front of my computer for 10 hours a day. Now I find that I am all over the place and even more productive than ever. I think the key is switching it up! Here are some ideas to get your creativity sparking again.

How to Spark Your Creativity When Working From Home

Whether you work for a large corporation, make your own products, are an influencer, or have any of the infinite possibilities of work from home jobs, here are some ways you can spark your creativity. How to spark creativity when working from home

  • My very favorite way to spark creativity when working from home is to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. Some sun, radio, in the car, change of scenery just something to get out of staring at the same thing you’ve been staring at for the past several hours. How to spark creativity when working from home
  • While you’re out of the house stop by a store and grab a snack. I have a Walgreens that I can ride my bike to which makes it the PERFECT destination for a snack on-the-go whether I bike or drive over. Walgreens has a great selection of expected AND unexpected snack options and pairings. I personally love Sahale Snacks Honey Almonds Glazed Mix with Smartwater. It’s simple but full of flavor, super refreshing, and I can break into it right when I get into the car. Right now you can save $1 when you buy any two (2) participating products. • Read/flip through magazines. You can even pick some up while you’re at Walgreens grabbing a new snack pairing! There’s something about flipping through paper photos that always sparks creativity for me.
  • Go for a walk or bike ride. Walking does so much for creativity. If you can, drive somewhere different each time. Look for new local parks or walking trails. How to spark creativity when working from home
  • Brainstorm. Take a break from the task you’re working on and write out whatever ideas come to your mind whether it’s something you’re currently working on or not.
  • Work from a new spot. Even inside your house, switch it up and move your office to another room for the day.
  • Go to a local library or museum. If you go to the library often, find a new one to try.
  • Try a new type of workout and do it in small spurts throughout the day to get up and get moving.
  • Take the time to stop and try a new recipe for lunch.
  • Re-arrange your home office. Or if you’re like me and just have a home storage room, take some time to organize a small portion of it.
  • Get out of town if you get the chance and bring along a notebook or two.
  • Invite another work-at-home friend over for a work date.
  • Take breaks.
  • Go to your happy place. For me, that’s always been the beach and it’s super important for me to plan trips there as often as possible. Don’t forget your fun snack pairings from Walgreens. It’s not a road trip without good snacks! How to spark creativity when working from home How to spark creativity when working from home How to spark creativity when working from homevHow to spark creativity when working from home

For me, the biggest thing is to break up routine and take time to soak in creativity from others. Start your next creative break with a fun snack pairing from Walgreens. Maybe next time I’ll go for a Kind Bar + VitaminWater!
