Happy New Year! After a bit of a break I’m back and ready to take on the new year with a new kitchen, new adventures, new recipes and recording all the memories! We took off right after Christmas to CA to visit family and so my mom could give the boys the surfboards she got them for Christmas.

Surfing 2014

It was COLD and the only wetsuit the rental place had for Parker was a spring suit which wasn’t enough coverage. The did go out for a bit though and are super excited to spend hours out on the water (when it’s warmer and maybe when they have their own wetsuits).Surfing 2014We also went whale watching! I have ALWAYS wanted to go so we were super excited to add this to our list of adventures for 2014. We went with Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching.

Dana Wharf Sportfishing Whale WatchingIt was cold, but not too bad. I was bundled up enough šŸ˜‰

Whale WatchingThe captain and crew are in touch with other boats in the area so they have an idea of what’s out there. They got word of a Humpback in the area so we went to check it out. He was more interested in diving deep to eat than putting on a show for us but it was SO amazing so see this giant creature out in the ocean. He stayed under for such a long time!

After that we went to check out some gray whales that had been seen in the area throughout the day.

Dana Wharf Sportfishing Whale WatchingWe are hooked and I can’t wait to go back again! The captain does a great job of telling you fun facts while you’re waiting to catch a glimpse and there was plenty of food/drink for sale on the boat in case you got hungry.

Not to mention theĀ gorgeous view!

Dana Wharf Sportfishing Whale WatchingIt was definitely a fun trip and we’ll definitely be back!
