Well, my mantle is finally finished so I can share the before and after of our fireplace!

I have some “in progress” shots of the mantle that I’ll share after the holiday craziness but thought I’d share before I got the mantle decorated.

I’m still not crazy about that cut out but because this space is so limited (it’s right next to the back door so we can come out too far) I think I’ll leave it alone for now.

This is basically a cap that goes over the existing shelf made to sort of look like one piece.

For the floor we just used a slate tile.

I’m so happy with how it turned out and it was really inexpensive. I’ll figure out the cost when I post the process photos but thought I’d just share where we’re at with it right now! The mantle piece actually can come off if we moved and someone wanted to do something else with the area.

Thank you so much. The mantle completely finishes this space (until I completely overhaul it of course) 😉
