This warm apple crisp is the best gluten-free apple crisp I've ever had! Served with vanilla ice cream, it makes the perfect Fall comfort dessert.
Ingredients
  • ½ cup gluten-free flour (I used Bob's Red Mill 1-to-1)
  • ½ cup gluten-free old fashioned oats
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar (not packed)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 5 TBSP butter cut into small squares
  • 5 SweetTango apples peeled and sliced fairly thin
  • 3 TBSP melted butter
  • 2 TBSP gluten-free flour
  • 1 TBSP lemon juice
  • 3 TBSP whole milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • splash of almond extract (optional)
  • ¼ cup dark brown sugar (not packed)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 F
  2. Combine ½ cup flour, oats, ½ cup brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, & 5 TBSP butter in a bowl with a pastry cutter or fork until it's mixed well and crumbly. Place in the refrigerator while you prepare the rest.
  3. Mix melted butter and 2 TBSP flour in a small bowl.
  4. Add the lemon juice, milk, vanilla, and almond extract and stir well.
  5. Mix in ¼ cup brown sugar, cinnamon and salt.
  6. Pour this mixture over the apples and stir to coat.
  7. Place apples in an 8x8 baking dish.
  8. Crumble topping over the top.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  10. Let sit for 10-15 minutes before serving.
