I love costumes! They are so fun and always so much better if you make them yourself. This year, I had a list of ideas for my costume and decided to head to Savers to see what I could find to make my costumes come to life.

If you’ve never gone into Savers this time of year, you’re missing out! They have a GREAT selection of not only thrifted items, but also brand-new costumes and accessories. The boys and I had so much fun browsing through everything. I ended up with a few thrifted and new accessories to come up with two different costumes I can wear to parties this year: a pineapple and an emoji!

For the pineapple, I found the most perfect yellow ruffle tiered dress, which I spruced up a bit with a fabric marker to look like a pineapple.

For the pineapple top, I used some artificial plant leaves from a plant I was going to get rid of. I really wanted a more realistic-looking top, but you could use paper too! I used the new headband I picked up at Savers for a base and for some structure.

I cut the leaves to look like pineapple leaves and hot glued them onto a cardstock tube I created (just rolled and glued cardstock).

For as big as it is, it’s really pretty sturdy and should hold up well! I love how it turned out!

To create the emoji, I was planning on making a circle with poster board or foam board, but I scored this thrifted costume that I thought would work perfectly! The “M” was ironed on, but after the costume was washed it peeled right off!

I just enlarged and printed out emojis and used this as a guide to cut felt shapes. If you’re better at drawing or cutting than me, you can eye it!

I simply glued the felt pieces onto the yellow circle and it was done! You could put another face on the other side too!
