What’s better than a root beer float (when you’re an adult)? A spiked root beer float! And what’s better than a spiked root beer float? A spiked root beer float with handcrafted root beer AND ice cream! Oh yes, this is the ultimate spiked root beer float and is SO good. It’s such a fun addition to any party you’re hosting this summer and setting it  up on a bar cart means you can serve them inside or outside by the pool.

These root beer floats not only taste amazing but they are a really fun party activity. Guests can make spiked root beer floats to their specific tastes. The big difference in these is that you hand craft your own root beer and use homemade ice cream. That extra bit of delicious creaminess makes all the difference!

To spike the root beer floats I picked up this patriotic bottle of SVEDKA vodka. It helps really make a statement without a ton of extra decor! SVEDKA vodka has been making its mark since it was first imported in 1998 and is now the #1 imported vodka in the US (Source: Adams 2015).

When I set up an interactive bar cart for a party I like to leave room for people to set their drink, measure, pour etc. So for this party I placed a recipe card for the root beer floats, SVEDKA vodka, root beer syrup (the kind with cane sugar already in it), cold club soda and a tub with ice holding the mugs to keep them icy cold!

I placed some homemade vanilla ice cream in a cooler next to the cart. If you have a nice cooler, you can layer some dry ice on the bottom with towels and then add some ice on top. This will keep it super cold for the ice cream.

I kept the decor simple with just a cut out of the United States and a wooden word that I attached with magnets. So easy!

How to make the BEST Spiked Root Beer Float

You’ll need SVEDKA vodka, root beer syrup (I used one that was already sweetened. Some are concentrated and need a sweetener added so keep that in mind if you choose that type), ice cold club soda and homemade vanilla ice cream.

Instead of writing on cups, have guests make their own straw tags by just adding some patriotic stickers to a paper and adding with some glue or double sided tape to adhere to a straw.

I love setting up on a rolling cart because you don’t have to decide ahead of time if you want to serve inside or outside. If everyone decides they feel like cooling off in the pool you can just roll it out!

As it gets darker just add some fun lights to keep the festivities going for the late comers!
