It’s award show season which means a perfect excuse for a girls’ night! My favorite way to spend time with friends is at home relaxing. When hosting a party I love to make a few things, but keep the rest simple and easy. That way I can enjoy the evening with my friends! I had heard about Dreaming Tree wines (creative collaboration between Dave Matthews and winemaker Sean McKenzie) and thought an awards show girls night was the perfect excuse to try some along with our favorite snacks.

You don’t have to decorate the entire house when hosting a party, but you can make a few decorations go a long way! Since this party was stationed in front of the tv, I kept everything in here and even made the goodie bags (with a bottle of wine) act as part of the decor.

I grabbed a couple of varieties of Dreaming Tree (which is  sustainably conscious from vine to table, including labels along with natural corks that are perfect for crafting with later) to pair with some barkTHINS® snacking chocolate (coconut and almond is my favorite) and Food Should Taste Good Blue Corn tortilla chips.

The rest of the menu just came together from there – baked brie garlic dip (recipe below) for the chips, prosciutto wrapped pears with blue cheese and arugula (dress pears with lemon juice and a bit of olive oil if desired, wrap with arugula and a bit of blue cheese), fruit, meats, cheeses (if you know your guests favorites you can get those) etc. I only made 2 items on the snack table and the rest were purchased!

The decor was a store bought fringe hung above the sofa and some quick t-shirt pillow covers (instructions below).

Once the guests arrived they picked a wine tag (printable below), wrote their name on it and got comfy for the party! I always keep extras in the kitchen but everything was right there so we could concentrate on talking/laughing and a little award show watching.

I loved the Dreaming Tree Cabernet Sauvignon and the Crush (red blend). We also served the Everyday White for the white wine lovers. Everything went well together, especially the company! Want even more party inspiration – check out this pairing site for other great ideas. You can learn more about Dreaming Tree Wines on Facebook / Twitter / YouTube / Pinterest. Be sure to check out your local retailer for wine tasting demos!

Ready to make your own wine tags? Just print out this file and cut out the tags including a slit so that you can attach it to the stem. To make them last longer you can run them through the laminator. You can use a dry erase marker on those and re-use them as well!

To make your own t-shirt pillow covers just use some fabric paint (you can buy fabric spray paint now!) and stencils. I created stencils from freezer paper but you can use store bought OR make simple shapes with washi or painters tape! Paint the t-shirts, let dry, cut out a square large enough to overlap your pillow and then secure the edges by sewing, using iron on adhesive or fabric glue.

The baked garlic brie dip is really simple and doesn’t really need much of a recipe. Just cut the rind off of a wheel of brie, cut into squares and add to a ramekin drizzled with a bit of olive oil. In another bowl, combine 1 garlic clove minced, a pinch of fresh chopped rosemary and a pinch of fresh chopped thyme (add a bit of olive oil to mix but not too much) then place the garlic/spice mixture over the brie. Bake at 375F until bubble and golden brown on the top. Enjoy! You can even make a larger serving in a cast iron skillet.

This party was simple and so much fun. You can print out voting ballots online for the awards shows or just enjoy being together and commenting on everyone’s outfits and the award winners. Either way, it’s perfect excuse for a girls’ wine night don’t you think?!

  1. I want to come to your party! This looks like so much fun and I love how everything is so paired and coordinated beautifully! #client

  2. This is absolutely amazing! I had a get together for the Oscars but it was nothing like this. The food looks delicious and so well put together. I definitely am going to be stealing some of these ideas for my next movie night get together.
