Can you believe my oldest teen is now 15?! So crazy right? He is in high school and is really becoming so much more independent. One of our biggest goals as parents is to send him off to college completely ready to do everything (or at least most things) on his own. One thing we’ve been working on is not relying on us to remember when he needs to buy things for a school assignment or project (no late-night runs to the store here). Amazon just announced a new way for teens to shop online and it’s PERFECT for us! Amazon now allows you to set up logins specifically for your teens (4 logins for teens ages 13-17 per adult) and we are loving it.

Basically, your teen has their own login to browse and purchase from Amazon. After they place an order you get a notification to approve/deny the order. It’s super simple and you can check out the visual below to see how it works. If you have Amazon Prime (you don’t need it to set up and use this service) your teen gets to share many of those benefits as well. So both of mine get Free Two-Day Shipping, can stream thousands of popular TV shows and movies through Prime Video and access exclusive content and offers on video games through Twitch Prime (which is my boys’ favorite part).

HOW TEEN LOGINS WORK ON AMAZON

So here’s how it works. Visit amazon.com/forteens and set them up (it’s super simple). Teens can set up and request an account as well.

Your teen can then create their own login, download the Amazon app (if they don’t have it already), and start shopping! They can place an order and you will be notified by email or text that there is an order waiting for approval. My favorite part of this new program is that they can send you a note on why they need or want what they’re ordering.

Here’s what Parker sees on his end when completing an order:

And here’s what I see when I click through my email/text or view in my orders on Amazon:

So simple (and genius). Now when he needs supplies for a school project, something for his fish tank, or a new t-shirt for school spirit day, he can just place his order with a note directly on Amazon.

Both of my boys tried it out and loved being able to order it themselves and not have to keep asking me if I placed the order. They also loved the easy access to their tracking info! Parker has already taken advantage of the Twitch Prime bonuses like in-game loot on Twitch and 20 percent off most pre-release boxed games.

I love the freedom and responsibility this gives my teens and I love the ability to still make the best decisions for the family. Go try it out with your teens, it’s super simple to set up!
